Sponsored Parent (Temporary) Visa (Subclass 870)

Parents of Australian citizens and permanent residents may live in Australia with their children for a maximum of ten years under the terms of the Australian Sponsored Parent Visa (Subclass 870), which is a temporary visa.

• You must have lived in Australia for at least four years and be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
• You must be your parents’ legitimate child (biological, adoptive, or step-child). You may also support the parents of your spouse or partner.
• You must not have resided in Australia illegally for the previous four years.
• In the previous four years, you must not have held any bridging visas other than bridging visas A, B, or C.
• You (and your spouse/partner) must make at least AUD 83,454 annually in joint income. If you don’t have a spouse or partner, you’ll need to make enough money on your own.
• You must not owe the Australian government any money.
